camp!

It's been a month since I got here? Seriously?

Time is flying by. I can't believe I'm halfway through week 3 of campers.

I don't have many photos of my time here (yet!), and I don't have much to say, because then this post would be endless. So I'll do what I usually do, and make a list.

1. God has been teaching me so much, about myself and about Himself. I guess I should elaborate on this one...but there's so much. Namely though, I've learned that God desires to speak to us, but we must be willing to listen. Also, He loves us enough to send Christ to die for us, and some days we just need to hear Him say it to us.

1 Peter 5:7- God cares for all of our anxieties. Because he cares for us. Not some, not just the important ones, but all of them. 

2. This job is hard. Really hard. In many ways. It demands much time, energy, and focus. And something I thought would be really simple has actually been teaching me more about movie-making than any class I've taken. However, it is also fun, rewarding, and I'm learning so much valuable stuff.

3. The people here are by far some of the most genuine I've ever known. Everyone calls this a "community of love" (ha, not a community of keep it to yourself), and it's true. I love being a part of this staff, and I love the friendships I've built so far. 

4. I bought a kayak. It's basically the greatest thing, I'd spend all day in it if I could. It's name is Jojo.

5. I love camp food (pancakes, mostly), and basically all of the food we get here. It's so good, all the time. 

6. Glee Cast Pandora is awesome, especially for workflow when things won't render fast enough. 

7. Giant slip'n'slides and gopro cameras are awesome. 

8. I've been sleeping in a wood shed for almost 2 weeks, even though I have a bed indoors. I'm not sure why me and Sparkles (Katelyn) are still in there, but it's awesome, and there are no quiet hours in there on weekends :)

9. My camp name is Benji. Other options were Ekac, Bubbles, or Jojo. For various reasons. Ask me sometime.

10. I didn't expect to enjoy my time here this much. I expected to go home most weekends, but now I want to make the most of every weekend and weekday (so, I guess I don't really want to go home, which is good, for me at least)

I feel like this is a pretty lousy update, but if you made it this far, know that I am happy, healthy, and really loving this summer. I'm excited to see what God will show me throughout the remaining weeks here. Pray for inspiration and courage during the moments of anxiety. Pray for the camp's ministry as a whole :)
